Toss It Or Not: How To Clean Your Closet

Summer’s here and we’re beginning to step out in our favorite clothes from last year. But they are last year’s thing and we’re definitely gonna get some new favorites. And this is where we stop! Why? Because there ain’t no space to fit the new stuff with all the old stuff lying there. But how to figure out what to dump and what not?! Ask yourself these simple questions and Thank me later!

• It is torn? If Yes, it’s no longer wearable. Toss it.
• Is it Stained? If Yes, no amount of dry cleaning can take that stain off if it hasn’t already. Toss it.
• Have you never worn it? Then, you’re never going to wear it! Toss it, hand it over to someone who’d like it or donate it.
• Is it ill fitting? Trust me, you should not wait for those days when you’d gain/lose few pounds and fit into that dress. Toss it now.
• Is it too old? If yes, it’s a must-toss. All it will ever do is lay there, take up space and date your wardrobe. You do not need this.
• Is it too bold/dull for you now? If over a period of time you have gone through a fashion transformation, dump away your old fashion personality. You’re not that person any more.
• Does it make you feel good? Whatever you wear or carry, if you look good in it, you’ll feel good. Any piece of your closet not making you feel good about yourself is a toss.
• Is it a keeper? Does it feel nice on fingers or has a print or embroidery to die for? Is it a high quality material? If not, it’s time it let this one go.
• Is it a multi-cycler? We’ve always own trends that went out of fashion and are now back. If you, too, have such key pieces in your closet, it’s better to give them a chance.
• Is it a sentiment favorite? Did your grandmother gift that skirt to you? Or did you wear it on your 18^th birthday? Any piece of your closet that reminds you of a time of your life is worth keeping.

It’s a universal fact that you gotta let of things in order to let new things come into your life (in this case, a better closet!). Decide upon a day and do it! And then go shopping! Good luck!
